Nebi Mosque

Nebi Mosque, located in the Sur district, is a historic structure dating back to the Akkoyunlu period and commonly known as the Prophet's Mosque among the locals. The mosque, with an inscription indicating its construction in 1530, stands out as one of the most impressive structures of the Akkoyunlu era in Diyarbakır.

The mosque's special name originates from inscriptions on its minaret mentioning the name of Prophet Muhammad, hence it is also referred to as Nebi Mosque. In the architecture of Nebi Mosque, features from the Seljuk and Ottoman periods are combined. Built with black basalt stones adorned with white stones, the mosque achieves an aesthetic appearance.
