Haburman Bridge

Haburman Bridge, also known as Çermik Bridge, is a historic bridge built over the Sinek River to the west of the Çermik district in Diyarbakır.

The inscription suggests that it was commissioned by Zübeyde Hatun, the daughter of Necmeddin Alpi ibn Timurtaş, during the Artuklu period in 1179. The main material used in the construction of the bridge is limestone. Among its architectural features are a large central arch and a spillway on each side. Haburman Bridge, with its three arches, lacks railings along its edges.

The total length of the bridge is 106 meters, and the width of the deck is 4.90 meters. The first arch on the eastern side has a span of 5.30 meters, the main arch of the bridge has a span of 19 meters, and the arch on the western side spans 7 meters.

Throughout history, Haburman Bridge has undergone various repairs, with the most recent major restoration taking place in 1927 by the Çermik District Governor Hikmet Bey and the Mayor Rifat Bey. This historic bridge stands as an important structure carrying the traces of the past in the region.
