Dört Ayaklı Minare ( Four-Legged Minaret )

Şeyh Mutahhar Mosque is a historical building and one of the significant monumental structures in Diyarbakır. Here is more information about this mosque:

Construction Date and Owner: Şeyh Mutahhar Mosque was built in the year 1500 by Kasım Bey, one of the princes of the Akkoyunlu dynasty. Kasım Bey commissioned the mosque to be built on the land where the tomb of Şeyh Mutahhar is located.

Naming: While the mosque is commonly known as Şeyh Mutahhar Mosque among the public, it is also referred to as Kasım Bey Mosque or Kasım Pasha Mosque in official sources. The different names attributed to it may stem from changing usage over time and traditional naming conventions among the people.

Four-legged Minaret: The mosque is famous for its four-legged minaret. Built on a single stone column in a quadrangular shape, this minaret is the only example of a four-legged minaret in Anatolia. The four legs symbolize the four Islamic schools of thought.

Special Features of the Minaret: Details such as the balcony and honeycomb patterns on the minaret are likely additions made to the mosque at a later date. Additionally, there is a belief that passing through the columns of the minaret seven times grants one's wishes.

Architectural Structure and Location: The mosque has a square plan and a single dome. It is situated in a narrow street next to Hasan Pasha Inn. The building has three windows on each side and two windows on the north and south sides.
