Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı Museum

Located in the Sur district of Diyarbakır, the Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı Museum is the house where the renowned poet Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı was born and raised. The house was built in 1733.

Born on October 2, 1910, Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı spent part of his childhood and youth in this historic house. After being purchased by the Ministry of Culture in 1973 and restored, the house was opened as a museum on October 29, 1973, with the aim of commemorating Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı and perpetuating his name, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Republic. The restoration and exhibition arrangement works, which began on May 1, 2011, were completed on August 1, 2012, and the Diyarbakır Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı Museum was opened on May 18, Museum Day.
