Located in the region where the Tigris River originates, the Birkleyn Caves boast impressive rock formations carved over thousands of years by the effects of wind and rain, offering visitors a breathtaking sight. Moreover, the presence of cuneiform inscriptions dating back to the Assyrian period highlights the historical significance of the area.

The cuneiform inscriptions dating back to around 1114 BCE from the Assyrian period underscore the historical depth of the Birkleyn Caves, which are protected as an archaeological site. The natural beauty surrounding the caves and the ancient theme of the "Elixir of Immortality," which is the subject of ancient legends, reflect the cultural richness of the region.

Furthermore, the designation of the Birkleyn Caves as one of Diyarbakır's significant trekking trails makes it an appealing destination for nature walkers and trekking enthusiasts. The estimated use of the caves as a settlement site since around 6000 BCE provides further insights into the historical past of the region.
