Behram Pasha Mosque

Behram Pasha Mosque was commissioned by Behram Pasha, the 13th Ottoman Governor of Diyarbakır, and constructed between 1564 and 1572. This architectural gem is documented in Tuhfetü'l Mi’marin, a compilation of the works of the renowned architect Mimar Sinan. Crafted entirely from cut stone, the mosque stands out among Diyarbakır's rich stone structures due to its intricate interior and exterior decorations.

The walls inside the mosque are adorned with 16th-century Iznik tiles up to a certain height from the ground, adding to its grandeur. Additionally, to the north of the mosque, there is a five-bay prayer hall with double-tiered sides overflowing. The overflow of the prayer hall extends to the sides, accommodating the minaret on the right-hand side.

The entrance of the mosque is adorned with a muqarnas border and features an inscribed plaque."
